Legal Expertise

Karl acts for a range of clients in the public and private sector. In the private sector, Karl has assisted clients in the information technology, manufacturing, transport, construction, health, retail and education sectors.

Karl assists clients in all workplace relations and employment matters including employment contracts advice and litigation, industrial relations dispute work, occupational health and safety and discrimination. He also has particular expertise in dealing with employment related issues arising from outsourcing and transmission of business situations.

Relevant Experience

  • Successfully representing the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations in a recent test case involving the power of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission to hear and determine dismissal claims under pre reform certified agreements.
  • Representing the Office of the Workplace Ombudsman in a prosecution against an employer for failing to adhere to the award and applicable workplace laws.
  • Advising a finance company on industrial strategy and terms and conditions to be applied to employees following the expiry of industrial instruments which transmitted after a business acquisition.
