Ross Jackson is national head of Maddocks Employment, Safety & People practice and has been a partner of the firm for over nineteen years.
Ross acts for public and private sector organisations in all employment-related matters including strategic workplace relations and human resource management issues, terminations and anti-discrimination claims, occupational health and safety matters and negotiation and drafting of individual and collective employment agreements.
Ross appears regularly as an advocate before the courts and federal and state employment and anti-discrimination Commissions and Tribunals. He is known for his particular expertise in public sector industry matters. He has successfully represented employers including the State of Victoria, in each of these jurisdictions. Clients include major State Government departments, statutory authorities and both public and private companies.
The 2007/2008 edition of Asia Pacific Legal 500 describes Ross Jackson as an 'outstanding practitioner'.

Relevant Experience
- Personally appearing on behalf of the State of Victoria (representing several government departments) in anti-discrimination matters, including obtaining an award of costs in favour of the State of Victoria after successfully defending claims of unlawful discrimination.
- Representing statutory authorities and government departments in managing industrial disputes, including devising and implementing long term industrial strategies to preserve and implement government policy, working closely at all times with Departmental Officers - an example being the negotiation of a Certified Agreement for a statutory authority in a politically charged environment prior to an election.
- Over 10 years acting as advocate for statutory authorities and government departments in internal Disciplinary Tribunals and related proceedings.
- High level co-ordination, devising and implementing of strategic plan for resourcing of workplace in emergency services sector, requiring consultation with all relevant stakeholders including Ministers and core of government (2001-2005), managing industrial and political exposures.
- Advising and representing Local Governments in all industrial, employment and occupational health and safety matters - Ross has acted as a solicitor and advisor to Local Governments for 20 years.
