Are your buildings covered? Update September 2010

As of November 2010, owners of large commercial office buildings will be required to provide energy efficiency information to potential buyers or lessees under the Mandatory Energy Efficiency Disclosure Scheme.  In short, the Building Energy Efficiency Disclosure Act 2010 requires vendors and landlords and even sub-landlords of buildings or parts of a building that have office areas in excess of 2,000sqm to disclose information regarding the energy efficiency of the building to purchasers, tenants and sub-tenants.  Vendors, landlords and sub-landlords will also be required to disclose the building's energy efficiency rating in any advertisement for the sale, lease or sub-lease of the building.
