Maddocks Young Planner Prize nominations closing soon

The closing date for nominations for the 2010 Maddocks Young Planner Prize is fast approaching. Following in the footsteps of last year's prize recipient, Rachel Hughes of Yarra Ranges Council, this year's winner will receive a grant of $5,000.

Applications must be received by 5:00pm, 12 November 2010 by email to terry.montebello@maddocks.com.au or by post addressed to Terry Montebello, Maddocks, Level 6, 140 William Street Melbourne 3000.

Candidates should be nominated by a manager (or an executive officer) in their Victorian municipal council and only one nomination will be accepted from each municipality.

To be eligible, candidates must have been employed in local government in either statutory or strategic planning departments for more than one year and have been practising for less than five years.

A judging panel will consider and assess the nominations then make a recommendation to Maddocks Planning & Environment partners. Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:

  • Skills;
  • Major projects/achievements;
  • Community/industry involvement;
  • Professional development/degree of specialisation; and
  • Professionalism and attitude to work.
