Relationships under the Relationships Act 2008 (VIC): Update Private Clients 2010
What are they?
The Relationships Act 2008 (Vic) took effect from 1 December 2008 (Act).
Purposes of the Act
The purposes of the Act include :
- to establish a Victorian relationships register for the registration of a domestic relationship in Victoria;
- to establish a Victorian relationships register for the registration of a caring relationship in Victoria;
- to allow couples in either a domestic or caring relationship to enter into a relationship agreement; and
-
to provide for the:
- adjustment of property interests between registered domestic partners and caring partners; and
- rights of registered domestic partners and caring partners to maintenance.
