Four to the fore: Maddocks announces new partner promotions

Maddocks will add to its growing partnership with the promotion of four new partners on 1 July.

Special counsel Bettina Sheeran and Andrew Whiteside and senior associates James Beauchamp and Kate Oliver will be promoted to the Maddocks partnership next week.

Bettina Sheeran is a member of the firm’s Development practice and has more than 18 years' experience in advising on real estate transactions nationwide to a variety of public and private, listed and unlisted clients, including developers and high net worth individuals. She was a finalist for the National Special Counsel of the Year at the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards. Bettina is on the board of Urban Development Institute of Australia (Victoria) and currently vice-president.

Andrew Whiteside works in the firm’s Commercial practice advising on technology contracting, government procurement and health law. He has drafted and negotiated a number of significant contracts for all levels of government. He was listed as a Rising Star by Australasian Lawyer in 2016.

James Beauchamp is a member of the firm’s Development practice and has more than 13 years' experience as a property lawyer advising some of the largest private and institutional developers in Victoria and Australia on land and apartment projects from site acquisition through to delivery and completion. James is a member of the Infrastructure and Urbanisation Committee of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (Victoria) and was also a finalist for National Senior Associate of the Year at the Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards.

Kate Oliver is a trusted adviser to local government in Victoria, providing governance advice to the firm’s local government clients. Kate’s deep understanding of the environment in which her clients operate allows her to provide advice that is strategic and pragmatic. She is an integral part of the firm’s broader local government practice.

Their promotions are the latest in a string of new partner appointments at Maddocks over the past nine months. Over this period, the firm has appointed Anthony Willis, Caroline Atkins and Gavan Mackenzie in Canberra, Vanessa Andersen in Sydney and Karli Evans in Melbourne.

Maddocks chairman Mark Henry congratulated Bettina, Andrew, James and Kate on their promotions.
