Implementation of Universities Accord Interim Recommendations passed

In August we summarised the legislation introduced into the Commonwealth Parliament to implement the interim recommendations of the Universities Accord.
On 19 October 2023 the Senate passed a slightly amended version of the Higher Education Support Amendment (Response to the Australian Universities Accord Interim Report) Bill 2023 which was accepted by the House of Representatives on the same day.
The only amendment, proposed by Senator David Pocock, was to defer commencement of the Support for Students policy requirements until 1 January 2024.
All other provisions of the amending Act commence on the day it receives Royal Assent.
