Maddocks achieves 20 consecutive years as Employer of Choice for Gender Equality
Maddocks has today achieved its 20th consecutive year as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality after the Workplace for Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) announced the citation, recognising the firm’s commitment to improve diversity and inclusion outcomes.
The Employer of Choice citation encourages, recognises and promotes organisations' active commitment to achieving gender equality in their workplace by meeting criteria across a number of indicators including leadership, flexible working, gender pay equity and respect at work.
Maddocks is one of 115 employers named as a citation holder and has been a longtime leader in the legal profession in relation to gender equality.
The firm is dedicated to providing equal opportunities for all employees, regardless of gender. Policies, learning and development and other initiatives have been reviewed to ensure there is equal access to career and other development opportunities. The firm’s flexible working arrangements, parental and carer’s leave and support networks help embed a culture of respect and inclusion. Targets for increasing men’s uptake of paid parental leave and utilising flexible work options are also in place. The Maddocks Board has committed to a 40/40/20 target for gender equality across all leadership positions.
Chair of the Gender Equality Network at Maddocks, Anna Scannell, said: “We are incredibly proud to have reached 20 years of continuous recognition by WGEA for the work we have done over the years to advance gender equality at Maddocks and in the broader legal community.
“Our consistently strong focus on gender equality and diversity has seen us continue to improve across a range of metrics including gender composition in leadership and reducing our gender pay gap. By using the Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation as a high benchmark, we have been able to continue to advance our approach to diversity and inclusion.“
Maddocks’ Head of Diversity, Inclusion & Wellbeing, Marita Pascoe, said: “We are very pleased with the progress we have made in reducing our median total remuneration gender pay gap over the last five years. Through ongoing reporting and detailed analysis during the remuneration review process, our efforts have seen us improve our gender pay gap ahead of the national average for the professional services and legal industries.”
