Skin in the game: Maddocks advises on strategic laser clinic divestment

Maddocks has advised the Hair and Beauty Group on its sale of Australian Skin Clinics to Silk Laser Australia Ltd.

Under the $52 million deal, Silk Laser Clinics has bought 100% of the shares in Australian Skin Clinics. The acquisition will see Australian Skin Clinic’s 56 outlets in Australia and New Zealand added to the Silk Laser Clinics stable.

The Maddocks team on the matter was corporate partner Greg Hipwell, senior associate Elizabeth Lilley and lawyer Alisha Shamim.

Greg Hipwell said he was pleased the firm could assist the underlying shareholders in the Hair and Beauty Group on this significant matter.

‘We have acted for the founder families of the Hair and Beauty Group for many years and it was very satisfying to assist them and their co-investors on a successful exit from Australian Skin Clinics,' Greg said.

'Maddocks advised the shareholders of the Hair and Beauty Group when they purchased Australian Skin Clinics from the original owner and merged it with the Ella Rouge network in 2017. At the time, the entry into the skin care and cosmeceuticals industry was a significant departure from the traditional hair and beauty business of Hairhouse and it has proved very rewarding.'

‘The sale positions Silk Laser Australia Ltd as one of the largest operators in the industry in Australia and New Zealand.’
