Maddocks CEO recognised for excellence in women’s leadership

Thursday 14 April 2016

Maddocks partner and CEO Michelle Dixon has been awarded the 2016 Victorian Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership.

The award, an initiative by Women and Leadership Australia, recognises the contribution of a woman in elevating the visibility and importance of Australian women receiving equitable access to higher levels of leadership.

The award recognises Michelle’s role in leading the way for equity in the Australian legal sector and broader professional services.

‘I would like to thank Women and Leadership Australia for this award and for the work they are doing to push for higher levels of female representation in Australian companies and organisations,’ Michelle said.

‘It’s an honour to be recognised alongside such prominent leaders as Elizabeth Broderick, Rabia Siddique and Annastacia Palaszczuk.

‘We still have some way to go in the legal profession before we can claim that there is a fair level of female representation in leadership positions.

‘However, I am proud of the way our firm has been leading the way on important issues such as gender diversity and pay equity.’

One-third of the Maddocks partnership are women, having set a target to have 30 percent female representation at partner level by 2013. The firm now has a target of 40 percent by 2020.  In the youngest half of partners, 52% are women, as are half of the firm’s Board.

Women and Leadership Australia is a national initiative dedicated to supporting a higher representation of women in leadership in Australian companies and organisations. The Excellence in Women’s Leadership award recognises one female leader in each state and territory, and one nationally.

The awards will be handed out on 21 and 22 July.
