About Amber

Amber advises public and private employers, contractors, consultants and insurers on contentious and non-contentious issues arising on complex and large-scale construction and infrastructure projects. Amber has particular experience in advising on dispute resolution and avoidance, including in respect of security of payment and construction-related insurance matters. Amber returned to Maddocks in 2017, after spending eight years in London in private practice at Mayer Brown International LLP and in-house at Tube Lines Limited and JPMorgan Chase Bank.

Experience

  • Panama Canal Authority (ACP)

    Advising on contractual issues arising out of the Panama Canal Expansion Project, including representing the ACP in arbitrations and referrals to the Dispute Adjudication Board in Panama and providing ad hoc advice on contractual and strategic issues.

  • Statutory corporation and State authority

    Representing the authority in arbitration and advising on payment disputes under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2002 (Vic) and other claims arising out of a contract for the supply and installation of key safety measures for a major inter-city national highway.

  • Construction & projects

    A joint venture comprising major Australian contractors – advising on the management and conduct of upstream and downstream claims and insurance issues arising from a design and construct contract for a 366km liquefied natural gas pipeline in Queensland.

  • Project Co

    Advising on a wide variety of issues arising out of a project agreement to design, construct and operate a prison in Western Australia, including management of pass-through upstream and downstream claims and a potential dispute by the subcontractor in respect of significant liquidated damages.

  • Projects & infrastructure

    Advising a global engineering, construction, building and maintenance company on a variety of issues arising out of a design and build contract for a key infrastructure development in South Australia, including risk allocation, dispute resolution and insurance matters and management of upstream and downstream claims.
