Guy is a leading property lawyer with extensive experience in acting for statutory authorities, government departments, councils, corporations, institutions, universities and developers in all aspects of property law.
Guy's principal areas of practice include sales and acquisitions, town centre redevelopment projects, public/private property joint ventures and commercial and retail leasing.
Guy is also joint lead of the firm's Local Government VIC sector.

Melton City Council
Negotiating a development agreement with Lend Lease Communities, pursuant to which 5000 residential lots, civic and recreation facilities and other infrastructure will be constructed on Council land, creating a new suburb. The Council will ultimately transfer individual lots to third-party purchasers following completion of development. Advised Council on conducting public EOI process; subsequent request for proposals from short-listed bidders; drafting heads of agreement and terms sheet with preferred proponents; and drafting and negotiating development agreement with the successful developer.

Monash City Council
Advising on the procurement processes and subsequent negotiation with potential developers for the sale and development of a major site in Glen Waverley for a proposed mixed use project. The proposed project comprises approximately 400 apartments, library, public plaza and associated works, and involved drafting conditions for expression of interest and request for proposal documents, drafting terms sheets for contract of sale, section 173 agreement and development agreement, advising on Council’s statutory obligations and probity considerations.

Victoria University City Precinct Project
Advising Victoria University on its city campus project involving the sale and leaseback of 3 city sites, and the construction on one of the sites of a purpose-built city campus. Our work included advising on the tender process, evaluation of bids, negotiation of Agreement for Lease, Lease and Contract of Sale with the successful developer, ISPT.

Advising on the redevelopment of land adjacent to Glen Waverley Rail Station involving drafting of expressions of interest and request for proposals documentation, negotiating surrender of leasehold interests affecting site and re-alignment of road to create developable parcel of land; negotiating development agreement and related contract documentation for the sale of 100 residential apartments, commercial and retail lots.

Federation Square
Advised on the proposed redevelopment of Federation Square to incorporate a global flagship store for Apple. Our advice included negotiating an agreement for lease and lease documentation with Apple Pty Ltd, negotiating deeds of surrender and new leases with existing tenants and advising on all aspects of the proposed redevelopment, including responding to the proposed heritage listing by the Heritage Council of Victoria.
