About Maree

Maree is a highly regarded employment lawyer who supports clients in the management of their employee and industrial relations issues. Maree practices in all aspects of workplace relations law assisting clients with everything from pro-active compliance measures, day-to-day employment issues, and dispute resolution through to high-level strategic advice. Maree regularly advises clients on a wide range of industrial relations issues, such as industrial relations strategy, enterprise agreement bargaining and industrial disputes.

She has significant experience in assisting clients with compliance, including Fair Work Ombudsman audits, investigations and prosecutions as well as self-assessment, auditing and pro-active compliance strategies. Maree also regularly advises on and conducts investigations for clients on workplace complaints such as bullying and sexual harassment.

  • Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited

    Advised on the high-profile investigation by the Fair Work Ombudsman regarding the alleged underpayment of Domino’s staff. This issue was the subject of significant media and political interest resulting in a large number of drivers and stakeholders impacting the conduct of the matter on all sides.

  • Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited

    Advised on IR strategy and its proposed new enterprise agreement to replace 27 prior agreements, with one agreement to cover all corporate and franchisee in-store and delivery employees across Australia. She continues to advise Domino’s on IR issues.

  • Kaufland

    Advising the German hypermarket chain, on the employment aspects of its planned entrance into the Australian market, including advising them on all aspects of Australian employment and industrial relations law, industrial relations strategy, and assisting them with the contractual arrangements for their first Australian employees.

  • NSW Treasury Corporation

    Advising on the employment aspects of the amalgamation of the fund management activities of State financial assets worth $65 billion within NSW Treasury Corporation, creating a top ten Australian investment manager. This involved transfer of business and transmission and application of industrial instrument issues and redundancy and integration issues.

  • Global Pharmaceutical client

    Advising on an investigation into complaints about sexual harassment and the conduct of a number of senior staff. This investigation was of particular interest as it led to Maree identifying significant cultural issues throughout the organisation which ultimately resulted in the termination of a number of senior employees. Following the terminations, Maree assisted the client by helping to implement cultural reform of the business, reviewing policies and providing training on appropriate workplace behaviour.
