Lawyers Weekly Top 25 Attraction Firms 2021

Each year, Lawyers Weekly asks its readers which firm they would move to if they were to leave their current firm. The responses are collated to find the firms that are the most attractive to lawyers in that year.

In 2021, Maddocks ranked 14th on the list – the highest ranking for the firm and up four places from 2020.

Australian Institute of Training and Development Awards

Maddocks has been named as a finalist in the Australian Institute of Training and Development (AITD) Awards in the category of Best Onboarding/Induction Program for our work on the 'Welcome to Maddocks Program'.

This award recognises innovation and the ability to transform onboarding for new employees. Factors such as understanding the needs of new employees, time to be job ready and cost effectiveness are also considered in the submission process.

We transformed our induction program in 2020 to move from a primarily in-person program to a blended online program. The Learning & Development team led the project to develop 15 new digital resources to transform and enhance the induction experience. The result was a contemporary, personalised digital experience for all new employees which is now 90% digital.

2021 LGBTQ Inclusion Awards

Maddocks was named a Bronze Employer at the Australian Workplace Equality Index's 2021 LGBTQ Inclusion Awards. We were recognised for the initiatives we have implemented to create a safe an inclusive workplace for our LGBTQ colleagues and allies.

This was the second consecutive year we received this recognition.

Maddocks has been named as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency every year since 2004. This award is continued recognition that we offer equal opportunity to all of our people at Maddocks.

Best Lawyers in Australia 2022

The most recent Best Lawyers in Australia guide listed 70 Maddocks partners and lawyers in 36 practice areas.

The firm was recognised as Law Firm of the Year for 'Regulatory Practice'.

Two of our senior lawyers were recognised as Lawyer of the Year in their respective practice area:

PropertyX Innovate Awards 2020

Maddocks was awarded the Better Together Award at the PropertyX Innovate Awards announced in December 2020.

The award is for the work done by the firm, in particular the Development and IT teams, to integrate the firm's market-leading Maddocks ePortfolio platform with PEXA. The integration saw the reduction of manual handling of data by up to 60% and improved end-to-end visibility of the settlement process for clients.

Steven Persson, CEO of Homes for Homes, presented the award to to Maddocks and praised the firm for its willingness to provide feedback, support and enhance the PEXA platform for the benefit of all.

'Maddocks have a commitment to their clients and the community at large,' he said.

Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards 2020

The Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards recognises leading women lawyers and support staff in the Australian legal sector. In November 2020, four of Maddocks partners, lawyers and shared services staff were named finalists.

Alicia Albury was named the winner of the Mentor of the Year category on 10 December 2020. Alicia was recognised for her long-standing commitment to mentoring young lawyers and her fearless advocacy for diverse and inclusive workplaces.

Australasian Lawyer Innovative Firms 2020

Maddocks was named as one of Australia's most innovative law firms in the annual Australasian Lawyer Innovative Firms 2020 report.

Maddocks was one of only 15 firms listed and was the second consecutive year we were featured in the list.

We were featured for our innovation strategy, which combines training in design thinking, collaboration with clients and regular idea generation workshops.

NSW Women Lawyers Achievement Awards 2019

Maddocks was shortlisted for five awards, with CEO Michelle Dixon named the Change Champion of the Year.

Michelle was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the advancement of women, as a fierce advocate for diversity and championing the need for law firms to embrace the possibilities of diverse leadership.

Her contribution was reflected in the implementation of programs and policies that provide true diversity and inclusion, from parental leave and pay equity, to removing the barriers women face for promotion.

The latest edition of Doyle's Guide lists Maddocks in Construction & Infrastructure, Corporate, Commercial & Procurement, Employment, Health & Aged Care, Intellectual Property, Litigation, Planning & Environment, Planning & Development, Property & Real Estate, and Work Health & Safety.

UDIA Awards for Excellence 2018

Maddocks received the Consultant’s Award for an innovative and tailored contract management platform for property developers VIP and Mirvac in their joint venture project Woodlea, in Melbourne’s west. The Maddocks eContracts platform handled large volumes of paperwork that supported Woodlea’s vision of providing a state-of-the-art digital experience provider.

The platform was created in response to Woodlea’s challenge to create an accurate, efficient and secure online platform that reduced paper waste for the property development industry. Maddocks eContracts allows all parties to sign contracts quickly and securely, reducing overheads and the time spent on contract signing from weeks to hours.
