​Leo has experience advising on the preparation and review of construction contracts, and advising and acting on disputes.

This includes drafting construction contracts, including tenders, and subcontracts for a range of construction projects and services, along with ​conducting reviews of construction contracts and providing advice on key risk items and required amendments. Leo also has experience preparing and responding to claims under security of payment legislation throughout Australia, as well as preparing and responding to claims in courts throughout Australia and drafting of court documents.

  • ​Transport for NSW – advising TfNSW on the Ferry Wharf Upgrade Program, including drafting legal sign off of the management agreement with the contractor for the program.

  • Charter Accountants Australia and New Zealand – advising on the preparation of a design and construct contract for the refurbishment of commercial office space.

  • ​BESIX Watpac – advising on a design and construct contract for the Port Macquarie Base Hospital Helipad Relocation Project and Car Park Project, including carrying out a commercial benchmark review of the contract documents.

  • ​Interspan – advising Interspan, a concrete contractor, on a dispute with a developer for outstanding payments in relation to several subcontract, including reviewing payment claims and preparation of a statement of claim.

  • ​Linmark Air Conditioning & Mechanical Services – acting for Linmark on claims for outstanding payments and EOTs, including preparation of a payment claim and adjudication application.

  • ​Blacktown City Council – advising on a dispute and proceedings with a contractor and engineer in relation to defects with sporting facilities constructed by Council.

  • ​Amey Consulting – advising on a payment claim by a subcontractor for a rail project in NSW, including the preparation of a payment schedule and an adjudication response.

  • ​Colas – advising on a dispute with a subcontractor in New Zealand, including preparation of an adjudication response.

  • ​SolarEdge – advising on a claim against a creditor and the recovery of goods from a warehouse.

  • ​Decon – acting for a contractor on an application for an injunction to prevent a developer entering into a deed of company arrangement and a concurrent application to remove the administrations of the company and wind up the company (Decon Australia Pty Ltd v TFM Epping Land Pty Ltd [2020] FCA 1085).

  • ​Durie Design – acting for a design consultant on an application for an injunction to prevent the use of designs and to deliver up designs produced by the consultant (Durie Design Pty Ltd v Chiodo Corporation Operations Pty Ltd [2020] NSWSC 949).

  • ​Decon – acting for a contractor in response to a stay application of a judgment in respect of a payment claim following an unsuccessful appeal and an appeal of the unsuccessful stay application (Decon Australia Pty Ltd v TFM Epping Land Pty Ltd and Katoomba Residence Investment Pty Ltd [2020] NSWSC 659 and TFM Epping Land Pty Ltd v Decon Australia Pty Ltd [2020] NSWCA 118).

  • ​Decon – acting for a contractor for a claim to obtain judgment in respect of a payment claim and an appeal by the Principal in respect of the judgment obtained (Decon Australia Pty Ltd v TFM Epping Land Pty Ltd [2019] NSWSC 1379 and TFM Epping Land Pty Ltd v Decon Australia Pty Ltd [2020] NSWCA 93).

  • ​Nuance Group – acting for a principal to defeat payment claims for withheld amounts issued by a contractor under security of payment legislation in Victoria, including responding to payment claims and adjudication applications, an application to overturn an adjudication application, and an application to uphold an adjudication application (The Nuance Group (Australia) Pty Limited v Shape Australia Pty Limited [2018] VSC 362] and Shape Australia Pty Ltd v The Nuance Group (Australia) Pty Ltd [2018] VSC 808).

  • ​Skyworks – acting for Skyworks for a matter in the NSW Supreme Court in respect of a claim for payment and responding to a counterclaim for defects and liquidated damages, and involving obtaining a freezing order to prevent the developer dissipating its assets (Skyworks v 32 Drummoyne Road [2017] NSWSC 343).

  • ​Boral – acting for Boral, a large manufacturer and supplier of building and construction materials, for claims by homeowners for the manufacture and supply of defective products.
