Michael is a public lawyer with several years of experience advising government departments, agencies and officers on matters across the public law spectrum.

Before joining Maddocks, Michael was a principal legal adviser at the Department of Premier and Cabinet (Victoria), where he advised on matters including legislative development, parliamentary processes and ministerial or Cabinet decision-making.

Experience

  • Administrative actions

    Provided advice to ministers and ministerial offices on proposed administrative actions.

  • Royal Commission

    Advised the State on its response to the Police Informants Royal Commission, the Crown Royal Commission, the Yoorrook Justice Commission and the Hotel Quarantine Inquiry.

  • Investigations and prosecutions

    Advised regulatory agencies on investigations and prosecutions, including appearing for agencies in summary criminal matters.

  • Legislative developments

    Advised on matters relating to legislative development, including constitutional advice on reforms to the Constitution Act 1975 (Vic).
