We advised the Department of the Environment and Energy on procurement of a new ice-breaker ship

We advised the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) of the Department of the Environment and Energy in relation to the two-stage procurement of a new ice-breaker ship.

Maddocks was the probity adviser to the AAD for this project, working closely with the AAD’s project team, as well as its legal and commercial advisers, through both the Request for Proposal (RFP) and the Request for Tender (RFT) stages. This matter was a significant procurement of a capability that is critical to the AAD’s operations, and involved the procurement of a single contractor to design, build, operate and maintain the new icebreaker.

Our work involved the provision of the full range of probity services, including the development of both pre-RFT release and post-RFT release interactive bidder workshops.

As probity adviser, we were heavily involved in the strategic design and implementation of this interactive engagement, and the development of applicable processes and protocols to ensure that the integrity of the overall procurement was maintained throughout the interactive workshops.

Partner Simonetta Astolfi led the matter for Maddocks.
