About Colin

Colin is an experienced banking and finance lawyer. He advises borrowers, lenders, sponsors and banks on the structuring, negotiation and documentation of debt financings, where he has particular expertise in funds finance and real estate finance.

Before joining Maddocks, Colin was a partner at an International law firm in London. He has practiced for over 15 years in London, working in European, US and International law firms. He also spent 6 months in house with the Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) team at Barclays Bank, primarily supporting funds finance transactions.

Experience

• Funds Finance

  Extensive experience acting on all types of funds finance transactions (subscription lines, NAV facilities and GP/Manco financings), involving both domestic and international fund structures, particularly with vehicles formed in Europe and offshore jurisdictions.
  

• Real Estate Finance

  Considerable experience in real estate financings and specifically in acting for real estate debt funds deploying their capital against property assets.
  

• Documentation & Training

  Colin has led precedent projects for lenders, preparing template documentation including term sheets, facility agreement and legal opinions. He has run comprehensive training programmes in funds finance for both clients and lawyers, including sessions at the FFA University.
