About Maddison
Maddison is a commercial lawyer with a strong focus on technology and intellectual property matters.
She advises a range of government and private sector clients, including Commonwealth and Victorian State departments and agencies, research organisations and small and large technology vendors. Maddison has undertaken secondments into a large Commonwealth agency and a Victorian Department.
Maddison obtained her Masters of Intellectual Property Law from the University of Melbourne and is a Trans-Tasman registered trade mark attorney.
She has extensive experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including service agreements, SaaS and PaaS agreements, intellectual property licences and government panel contracts.

Undertaking a 9-month secondment into the ICT legal team, drafting and negotiating contracts for its large transformation projects and general transactional matters. This included advising on a broad range of matters relating to ICT agreements, including intellectual property ownership and licensing, and enforcement and termination issues.

Advising on the complex licensing and royalty arrangements relating to cancer treatments.

Drafting legal protocols for the development of an ethical and legally ‘minded’ autonomous AI system for use in the defence industry.

Consumer Goods
Managing the trade mark portfolio of a large Australian clothing brand; drafting intellectual property assignments and related-party licences on its behalf and enforcing its intellectual property rights in the Federal Court of Australia.
