Maddocks has provided the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) with the 2026 Census Privacy Assurance Report, prepared by Partner Katherine Armytage, in her role as the Census Independent Privacy Adviser (CIPA).

The report provides independent assurance regarding the work that has been undertaken by the ABS on the privacy governance framework, safeguards and protections supporting the Census. It forms part of the ABS's commitment to transparency and public confidence in the handling of personal information and other data in connection with Census operations.

The CIPA’s role ensures access to independent privacy expertise across the design and implementation of the Census.

The report is now publicly available here via the ABS website and the 2026 Census Privacy Statement.

Partner Katherine Armytage and the project’s CIPA, said:
