Andrew advises all participants in the infrastructure, development and government sectors, providing high-quality, timely and solutions focused legal advice. Andrew has a particular focus on assisting clients to resolve complex construction and engineering disputes by way of dispute avoidance and dispute resolution, with experience in mediation, statutory adjudication, expert determination, arbitration and litigation.
Andrew has significant expertise in Security of Payment legislation having acted for both claimants and respondents in a significant number of security of payment matters across multiple jurisdictions, including acting in the second ever High Court case involving security of payment legislation. Andrew acts for Commonwealth, State and local government, contractors, principals and owners and has worked on projects ranging from ports and railways, to education and community facilities, roads, bridges, residential buildings and renewable energy projects.

Experience

State and Local Government
Andrew regularly assists State and Local Government clients in connection with contractual administration and dispute resolution on projects across NSW. Andrew has a deep understanding of State and Local government operations and previously acted in the role of senior legal counsel for a major NSW Government Agency for nearly 12 months.
Recent experience includes:
- acting for a metro Council in parallel arbitration and litigation proceedings arising out of design and construction defects in a Tennis Centre Complex;
- providing strategic advice to a NSW Government Agency in relation to a landslip event including advice as to liability and potential causes of action;
- providing claims management advice to a regional Council in connection with multiple water upgrade programs including successfully defending security of payment claims brought by a contractor.

Renewable Energy
Andrew has acted for developers and contractors in relation to a number of renewable solar and wind projects across Australia.
Recent experience includes:
- providing contractual and dispute resolution advice to a major contractor in relation to multiple solar projects in NSW and Queensland;
- acting for a developer in connection with complex contractual issues and disputes relating to wind projects in South Australia and Queensland.

Security of Payment
Andrew regularly acts for principals, head contractors and subcontractors in relation to matters arising out of security of payment legislation in various jurisdictions across Australia. Andrew has significant experience preparing and responding to security of payment claims as well seeking judicial review of adjudication determinations, including having acted in the second-ever High Court case involving security of payment legislation: Probuild Constructions (Aust) Pty Ltd v Shade Systems Pty Ltd [2018] HCA 4.
