KDR Victoria Pty Ltd (JV) t/a Yarra Trams is a joint venture between Keolis and Downer Rail, and was the franchise operator responsible for operating Yarra Trams, the iconic tram network in Melbourne, Australia. 

As the franchise operator, Yarra Trams oversees the maintenance, operation, and enhancement of the tram services, ensuring efficient and reliable public transportation for the city. 

The company is committed to delivering high-quality service, improving passenger experience, and contributing to the sustainability and growth of Melbourne's public transport system.

Maddocks provided advice to Yarra Trams in connection with claims made by Downer EDI under a rolling stocks works services contract. 

The services contract, valued at more than $200 million, requires the upgrade of trams across the fleet as well as upgrades to the East Preston production facility. 

During the project, disputes have arisen regarding Downer EDI’s entitlement to extension of time and claims for additional costs. 

Yarra Trams is the operator of the tram network in Melbourne and responsible for operating more than 480 trams across 23 routes, placing it is a key public transport provider in one of Australia’s largest cities.

The services contract relates to key safety and efficiency upgrades to the fleet and by addressing claims and maintaining high standards, trams will run efficiently and reliably, providing a seamless travel experience for Melbourne's residents and visitors, supporting the city's economic vitality and enhancing the overall quality of life for commuters.
