About Cara

Cara specialises in insolvency and restructuring law with a practice that is a mixture of Corporations Act litigation work, secured lender work and acting in an advisory role for insolvency practitioners in a variety of external administration matters including bankruptcy matters. Building on her background in general commercial litigation, Cara has extensive experience at all stages of litigious matters and has acted for clients in large scale court proceedings in Victoria and the Federal Court. Cara brings a commercial and practical mindset to her matters aimed at achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.

Experience

  • Liquidations

    Acting for liquidators in a range of recovery proceedings including insolvent trading claims and preference claims, applications on behalf of liquidators to appoint receivers over trust property, and applications regarding distributions to creditors.

  • Public Examinations

    Acting for liquidators in issuing summonses for examination against the directors, former directors, company lawyer and company accountant of a company in liquidation.

  • Banks and Private Lenders

    Acting for banks and private lenders in relation to security reviews and enforcement issues (including facilitating the appointments of receiver and/or agents for mortgagees in possession).

  • Bankruptcy Proceedings

    Acting for clients, including a number of local councils, in relation to to bankruptcy proceedings, including appearing at sequestration order hearings.
