About Vanessa
Vanessa has almost two decades of experience as a trusted commercial, procurement and probity lawyer advising Commonwealth, state and territory government agencies, government-owned corporations and private sector clients. She provides strategic advice across procurement, probity, governance, commercial contracting, grants, public law, privacy and regulatory matters. Vanessa has acted as probity adviser on a broad range of high-profile government procurements, including complex ICT, telecommunications, infrastructure, community services and service delivery procurements, providing end-to-end support from procurement planning and market approach through to evaluation, negotiations and contract execution.
Vanessa is highly experienced in developing probity frameworks, helping clients identify and manage conflicts of interest, delivering probity briefings, reviewing procurement documentation and providing independent assurance throughout procurement processes. She also advises on grant programs and commercial contracting, including the development and negotiation of Commonwealth grant agreements.
Prior to joining Maddocks, Vanessa was a principal at a national law firm where she specialised in Commonwealth practice. Her practical, solutions-focused approach is informed by experience gained in private practice, in-house legal roles and secondments to government agencies, enabling her to deliver legally robust and commercially pragmatic outcomes for clients.
Vanessa holds a Master of Law and Legal Practice (Commercial Law) and she is admitted as a legal practitioner in both the ACT and NSW.
