Maddocks has bolstered its Employment, Safety & People practice with the appointment of partner Vanessa Andersen.
Vanessa commenced her career at Minter Ellison and joins Maddocks in Sydney after 16 years at Henry Davis York. Most recently Vanessa led HDY’s Workplace Relations and Safety Group. Her legal experience includes the full range of administrative and employment law issues, including general advisory matters, discrimination, employment litigation, industrial relations and executive employment issues.
Vanessa also conducts training for employers and managers on workplace issues such as bullying and harassment and management of performance and conduct issues.
Sydney Head of the Maddocks Employment, Safety & People team Bruce Heddle said Vanessa’s appointment adds further quality and depth to the team.
‘Vanessa is an outstanding lawyer who brings great experience to Maddocks,’ Bruce said.
‘Her employment law experience, acting for clients in both the public and private sectors, complements our existing client base, sector strategy and national practice.
‘Vanessa’s pragmatic approach and focus on achieving the best possible outcome for clients also fits perfectly with the way we interact with clients, which is based on teaming and collaboration.’
Maddocks chairman Mark Henry welcomed Vanessa to Maddocks.
‘Vanessa is a great addition to our Employment, Safety & People team, a team which prides itself on building close relationships with its clients,’ Mark said.
‘We look forward to having Vanessa work closely with our clients to deliver the timely and commercial advice that the team and the wider firm is known for.’
Vanessa said: ‘I am very pleased to be starting a new adventure at Maddocks. I am excited that the success of the employment team, and the strength of its relationships with clients, is central to the firm’s strategy.’
