• 10 July 2025 • 1 min read

Maddocks has assisted the Victorian Racing Industry in the sale of its broadcaster RSN (formerly Radio 3UZ) to the listed Sports Entertainment Group (SEN). Radio 3UZ, which has been a feature of Melbourne’s airwaves for over a century, was acquired by the thoroughbred, harness racing and greyhound codes in 1986. The transaction with SEN involves a sale of the 3UZ licence and assets to become part of the SEN stable of radio stations and the establishing of a long-term broadcasting partnership between the codes and SEN.

The Maddocks team was led by Special Counsel Jacqui Picone and Senior Associate Oliver Wahlstrom with support from Commercial Partners Ron Smooker and Rob Gregory and Lawyers Lucy MacLachlan, Maddison Reznick and Jess Abrahams. Jacqui and Oliver were assisted by colleagues from the firm’s Tax, Property and Employment, Safety and People teams.

Jacqui said in relation to the RSN deal:

"Maddocks has a long history of acting for Racing Victoria and Greyhound Racing Victoria. It was a privilege to be able to use that deep understanding of racing and the industry’s dynamics to assist the Codes to secure a future for the historically significant asset that is Radio 3UZ."
