Maddocks welcomes leading Victorian State Government Lawyer as a new Partner
Maddocks announced today that it has secured Alanna Mitchell as a new Partner in the Commercial practice of its Melbourne office.
Alanna joins the firm from the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office with a stellar track record acting across a large range of prominent and strategic matters for the State Government. Her arrival coincides with Maddocks’ appointment to 10 areas of law for the Victorian State Government panel.
Alanna is a highly experienced legal adviser with experience in major commercial transactions and major projects, contract development, government acquisitions, entity sales and machinery-of-government changes, administrative law and decision-making, legislative reform, regulatory investigations, powers and procedures, Royal Commissions and public inquiries.
Alanna is passionate about shaping strong client outcomes to organisational, policy and regulatory issues by providing great legal advice and sharp legal strategy in complex, information-rich, fast-moving environments. With a strong understanding of the client perspective, she has led the legal representation of the State and its departments and agencies in many significant legal matters.
In appointing Alanna, Maddocks CEO David Newman commented: “Alanna’s appointment is a testament to the continued strength of Maddocks’ Government Practice. To attract a partner of Alanna’s calibre will only add to the strength of our practice and the continued strong relationship we have with the Victorian State Government. We are excited by Alanna’s future at Maddocks for many years to come.”
Head of the firm’s Victorian State Government Sector, Simone Holding added: “Alanna will be instrumental in building our offering across strategic areas of law for the Victorian Government, and Maddocks’ continued focus on this important sector. She will join the team which is committed to ensuring we continue to provide strong service and value to all of the departments and agencies for which we act.”
Alanna was equally as delighted by her appointment: “Maddocks is a firm that is admired by many for its dedication to the Government Sector. With strength in its practices which have serviced the Government for over 100 years, as well as its market leading Legal Process Management systems and a strong focus on client service, it is a firm I am excited to be a part of.”
