About Jack

Jack advises a range of corporate and private clients on M&A transactions, corporate reorganisations and legal and tax structuring. Jack acts for clients on both buy-side and sell-side and specialises in founder-owned businesses and Australian subsidiaries of multi-national companies. He works across a number of sectors including information technology, professional services, and property development and management including land lease.

Jack’s structuring work includes assisting multinationals to structure Australian operations, listed companies to achieve regulatory compliance / optimisation and providing general tax structuring. He has also represented clients in tax controversies including before the General Anti-Avoidance Review Panel (GAAR Panel) and the Federal Court of Australia.

Jack was recognised for his work in the taxation field as a finalist for the 30 Under 30 (Taxation Law) award.

Experience

  • M&A and commercial transactions

    Advising companies on a diverse range of critical and commercially sensitive transactions, which are often transformational for organisations and career-defining for individuals. These include acquisitions, takeovers and financing, as well as business as usual matters.

  • M&A and commercial transactions

    Advising founder and family owned businesses to help them to prepare for a liquidity event, including working with a network of other advisors to best position stakeholders for a clean exit at a premium valuation – or for the introduction of a constructive, strategic partner to support the future of the business.

  • Tax and regulatory structuring and advice

    Advising clients on an array of complex tax and regulatory matters, including listed public companies on tax audits and regulatory compliance and optimisation and implementing proposed legal structures.

  • Tax and regulatory structuring and advice

    Acting for clients in tax controversies with a particular focus on ATO audit activities involving the application of anti-avoidance and integrity measures and the application of income tax law.
