Mathew specialises in insolvency and restructuring law, having worked with clients on matters involving all types of external administration appointments. Mathew has experience acting for clients in a wide range of industries in large scale court proceedings in New South Wales and Victoria. Mathew has experience advising on a wide range of insolvency processes, including bankruptcy, corporate insolvency and securities enforcement, and has experience dealing with regulatory bodies like ASIC and AFSA.

Experience

  • Liquidation

    Acting for the liquidator and special purpose receiver of Banksia Securities Limited in all aspects of the liquidation and special purpose receivership, including in relation to issues such as High Court proceedings, court approval for settlement of claims, complicated remuneration issues and breaches of the Civil Procedure Act.

  • Liquidation

    Advising in all aspects of the liquidation of AGM Markets Pty Ltd (In Liquidation), a former financial services provider offering offered over-the-counter derivative products to retail investors, in relation to issues such as the assessment of investors’ claims, communications with creditors, privacy and liquidator remuneration.

  • Private clients

    Acting for a private client in respect of a range of matters arising out of oppression proceedings in the Supreme Court of New South Wales: See Jayne Elizabeth Beaumont v David Martin Peel & Ors [2018] NSWSC 95

  • Banks and private lenders

    Acting for banks and private lenders in relation to security reviews and enforcement issues (including facilitating the appointments of receiver and/or agents for mortgagees in possession).

  • Voidable transactions

    Acting on behalf of liquidators and bankruptcy trustees in respect of voidable transactions, large-scale recovery proceedings and provision of advice.
