Tom advises on all areas of real estate and property development law, including property acquisitions, off-the-plan and post-registration contract drafting and contract administration, Foreign Investment and Review Board applications and advice work, owners corporation structuring, leasing and licensing. Before joining Maddocks, Tom was a quantity surveyor in the property industry.
Assisting Gurner with their recent developments including Saint Moritz, Atelier, Albert Place, Hawkburn Place and 74 Eastern Road. The work has typically dealt with a high end apartment and retail products. My involvement variously has been drafting the master contracts of sale, financial close, purchaser contract amendments, considering innovative structures to allow purchasers to customise their apartments, as well as owners corporation considerations.
Satterley Property Group
Assisting with Satterley’s land developments at Habitat, Upper Point Cook, Arcadia, Botanical and True North. Day to day work involves the development of stages within each of these estates – drafting contracts of sale, settlements of each of these stages, GAIC advice, heads of agreements with builders to deliver medium density products, section 173 agreements and collaborating with our Construction and Major Projects teams for construction access licenses.
Assisting with the Nightingale 2.0 and Nightingale Village developments in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. My involvement includes drafting the master contracts of sale for each development, detailed structuring work and assistance with the Nightingale Housing covenant on resales.
Acted for the Besgate group in their 2019 disposal of 3x development sites with planning permits in Melbourne’s CBD. Work involved drafting contracts of sale, running data rooms for prospective purchasers and the expression of interest process, negotiation of the contracts of sale for each of the sites and settlement of each.
Act for Chapter Group in their development portfolio including boutique developments in Toorak, Armadale and Collingwood. My involvement variously has been site acquisition, including negotiating contracts of sale with vendors, drafting master contracts of sale for selling individual contracts of sale to purchasers, assisting with purchaser customisations.
