
Maddocks establishes new Operational Excellence function to focus on client service
Maddocks has today announced the creation of a new function to drive the firm’s continued efforts to modernise.
Maddocks has advised Cereus Holdings Ltd on its sale of New Zealand’s leading medical technology company Medtech Global.
Under the deal, Medtech Global was sold to Australasian healthtech advisory and investment company Acclivis Group and private Australian investment fund Advent Partners.
Medtech Global develops and licences practice management software that is used by 700,000 patients and GPs in New Zealand and has a growing international footprint in countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland and India.
The patient health and consumer portal Manage My Health has been retained by the company’s founder Vino Ramayah’s New Zealand investment firm Cereus Holdings.
This transaction is the final chapter of what has been an important and long-running relationship between Maddocks and Medtech Global. Maddocks has advised Medtech Global through a number of significant transactions, including its de-listing and takeover by Cereus. Founder Vino Ramayah has invested 20 years evolving Medtech Global, and it was a pleasure to assist Mr Ramayah solidify his achievements in a clean and successful exit.
The Maddocks team on the matter was partner Cath Debreceny, senior associate Laura Murphy and lawyer Alexandra Hodsman.
This also continues Maddocks run of matters advising founders on major sales and acquisitions, including Kidman Resources, Sushi Sushi, Camp Australia, HPS Group, Soar Aviation and Manly Fast Ferry.
KPMG acted as financial advisors for Cereus, and Herbert Smith Freehills acted as legal advisors for the buyer.
