Maddocks advises Ultra Violette on new US investment
Australian SPF-based skincare brand Ultra Violette and its founders have been advised by Maddocks on its new partnership with US equity firm Aria Growth Partners, marking its first capital investment from outside of the company.
The new investment will support the brand’s
expansion plans in North America and new product innovation.
Ultra Violette was launched by co-founders Ava Chandler-Matthews and Rebecca Jefferd in 2019. Under the arrangements with Aria, both will remain majority owners and operators of the business that will use the new investment to launch in Canada in March, alongside further innovation in their products and team development. A strong consumer following both in Australia and overseas has seen the company experience annual growth of more than 100 per cent.
As well as advising on the transaction, Maddocks has continued to advise the company on commercial and distribution matters.
The Maddocks team was led by Commercial Partner and Consumer Markets Sector Leader, Greg Hipwell, and supported by Special Counsel James Hains, Senior Associate Mira Martin, and Lawyer Sophie Edgar
Greg Hipwell said: “This transaction is a major milestone for Ultra Violette’s growth strategy and expansion overseas, and we were pleased to have supported both Bec and Ava on this significant opportunity. It drew upon our team’s unique experience in advising independent Australian health and beauty companies and their founders with fundraising, expansion and exit strategies.”
