Maddocks advises Simonds Group Limited on strategic acquisition

Maddocks has advised ASX-listed homebuilder Simonds Group Limited on its acquisition of Dennis Family Homes Pty Ltd (DFH). The acquisition will significantly expand its product portfolio and market reach as demand for accessible housing options increases.
Simonds Group is the parent company of Simonds Homes, one of Australia’s leading homebuilders that was established in 1949.
Simonds Group has entered into a binding agreement to acquire 100 per cent of the issued capital of DFH from DFC Services Pty. The purchase of DFH, which specialises in the design and construction of residential homes in Victoria and New South Wales, strongly aligns with Simonds’ strategy to deliver high quality affordable homes.
The acquisition is expected to complete in March 2025.
The Maddocks team was led by Commercial Partner Ron Smooker and Special Counsel Jacqueline Picone with support from Associate Oliver Wahlstrom, and Lawyers Cooper Smith and Lucy MacLachlan as well the firm’s Construction, Employment and Property teams.
Ron Smooker said: “We were pleased to have been able to assist Simonds Group on this strategic and complex transaction that will position the Group to take advantage of the growing opportunities in the residential housing market. It is another demonstration of Maddocks’ one team approach, providing end-to-end, consistent and complementary guidance to Australian businesses on important transactions.”
