About Shelley

Shelley is an intellectual property lawyer specialising in trade mark law and is a registered Trade Mark Attorney and Notary Public (NSW). Shelley advises local and overseas clients on all aspects of trade mark filing, prosecution, opposition and removal actions. She has extensive experience managing large trade mark portfolios and transactional matters in a wide range of industry sectors.

Shelley conducts trade mark clearance searches and provides advice on brand strategy, as well as assisting clients with trade mark and domain name disputes, copyright advice and design filing and registration. Shelley is President of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ) and is a former chairperson of IPSANZ NSW. She is a member (and former committee member) of the International Trade mark Association.

  Manages the worldwide trade mark portfolio of Adstream Holdings Pty Ltd, which involves searching, filing, registering and maintaining the company’s trade marks around the world including Australia, Europe, North America and South East Asia. This work has included overcoming trade mark oppositions, acting to defend non-use and removal actions and resolving disputes and negotiating settlements in a variety of countries. Has advised and assisted in updating the company’s worldwide trade mark protection strategy and have also assisted and with the branding for joint venture projects in overseas jurisdictions.

  Provides ongoing advice and assistance to Aristocrat in relation to its Australian trade mark portfolio, including drafting responses to trade mark examination reports, drafting evidence, drafting cease and desist letters, and conducting monthly trade mark watches.

  Provides ongoing advice and assistance to this pro bono client in relation to its Australian and overseas trade mark portfolio; enforcement work and trade mark searching.

  Manages an extensive trade mark portfolio in Australia and overseas, providing advice on trade mark issues, filing and prosecuting trade mark applications and conducting trade mark opposition and non-use matters.
