A Guide to Listing & the IPO Process in Australia aims to assist companies in determining whether they qualify for an Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) listing and to gain an understanding of what is involved in the initial public offering (IPO) process.

The transition from a private to public company is a significant step and our guide seeks to provide some practical guidance on how to prepare for an IPO, manage the listing process and also includes an overview of certain of the key rules which will apply to companies following listing.

The guide is based on the ASX Listing Rules and guidance in effect in February 2019. However, readers should be aware that ASX has recently published a number of proposed changes to the Listing Rules (which are currently undergoing a public consultation process) which are expected to come into effect on 1 July 2019. These will have some impact on the IPO process and ongoing obligations as a listed company.
