Maddocks advises AMAL Group management on strategic sale to IQ-EQ

Maddocks has advised the management team of AMAL Group on its sale to global investor services provider IQ-EQ, a portfolio company of Luxembourg-based private equity firm Astorg.
The transaction marks a significant milestone for AMAL, the region’s only integrated provider of loan servicing, corporate trust and agency services, with over A$37 billion in funds under administration across Australia and New Zealand. The acquisition enables AMAL to better service its existing clients and expand its offering to a broader range of markets and strategies.
IQ-EQ’s entry into the ANZ market comes amid strong double-digit growth in Australia’s securitisation and non-bank lending sectors, with the acquisition positioning the group to capitalise on rising demand for sophisticated, end-to-end trustee and loan administration solutions.
Maddocks advised on deal structuring and supported the management team throughout the transaction. The deal was subject to Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) approval.
The Maddocks team was led by corporate partner, Duncan Hall, who was closely supported by special counsel Bernardo Wood and tax partner, Andrew Wright.
Duncan commented on the transaction, “We’re proud to have supported the AMAL management team on this transaction. The deal reflects the strength of AMAL’s platform and positions them for exciting growth under IQ-EQ’s global umbrella.”
