Maddocks appointed to advise on $500 million Melbourne development
Maddocks has been appointed by a private investor group led by Nicholas Dorman (Dorman Capital), Craig Jensz (Jensz Investment Company) and Ray Zelouf (Occasio Projects) to advise on the $500 million revitalisation of the Mernda Town Centre in Melbourne’s outer northern suburbs.
The project will include the construction of a shopping centre with 35 retails shops and a Woolworths supermarket as the anchor tenant, commercial entertainment, residential and health care facilities. The project will be developed in stages over 5 years, with stage 1 already underway.
The appointment will see the involvement of a cross-practice Maddocks team, including our Development, Construction & Projects, Banking & Finance and Tax teams.
The Maddocks team will be led by partner Nick Holuigue and include partners Andrew Pitney, Ilan Kraus, Michael Taylor-Sands and Robert Gregory, special counsel Trent Chugg, Andrew Wright and Viviane Karoumbalis, senior associates Catherine Marino and Michael Copeland, and associates Thandi Ellis and Sophie Boyd.
Nick Holuigue said the appointment is a significant one as it showcases the firm’s strength in the land market as well as mixed use precincts and town centres.
‘The outer northern suburbs of Melbourne is a real growth corridor and the suburb of Mernda has gone through significant expansion over the past decade,’ Nick said.
‘This project to revitalise the hub of this rapidly growing suburb will provide crucial facilities for the Mernda community and we are really proud to be supporting the Owners of this project.’
