Maddocks wins at Partner of the Year Awards 2023

Maddocks has been recognised at the 2023 Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards, winning two awards in Insolvency and Dispute Resolution.

Partner Danielle Funston was named Insolvency Partner of the Year while Shaun Temby won Dispute Resolution Partner of the Year at last night’s gala ceremony in Sydney. They were amongst the 35 winners chosen from this year’s 283 finalists and 464 submissions, a record number for these awards.

The awards recognise specialists from across different legal practices, showcasing partners who are leading the way in the Australian industry.

Danielle is a highly respected lawyer in the Restructuring and Insolvency space – her practice focuses on turnaround and restructuring, formal insolvency appointment and secured lender work. She is also Vice President and board director of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA).

As well as being named Insolvency Partner of the Year, Danielle was also shortlisted as a finalist for the Partner of the Year Excellence Award.

Shaun is Maddocks Sydney Partner-in-Charge and leads its Dispute Resolution and Litigation team. Along with leading Mercedes-Benz’s response to a high-profile $650 million dispute, Shaun acted for various clients on several investigations and defending an ACCC prosecutions – all while supporting his extremely busy retail and consumer markets practice. His leadership also extends to his contribution as an out LGBTQI+ role model within the firm; he is also the host of the popular Watchdog podcast which focuses on ACCC regulatory activity. Shaun was named as one of Australia's Most Influential Lawyers for 2022 by Australasian Lawyer.
