Maddocks advises international renewables contractor PCL Construction on Stubbo Solar Project, supporting Australia’s transition to clean energy.
Maddocks has advised PCL Construction on its successful bid to build and maintain the new 400MW Stubbo Solar Project in New South Wales’ central west for renewable energy company ACEN Australia.
Headquartered in Canada, with a permanent office in Sydney, PCL is an experienced and diverse group of independent construction companies which operate at the cutting edge of sustainable construction. It delivers solar energy solutions in Australia, the United States and Canada.
PCL has been engaged by ACEN Australia to deliver the new project and is responsible for the detailed design, engineering and procurement. PCL will also manage operation and maintenance services in the first two years.
Stubbo Solar is expected to produce enough clean, renewable energy to power more than 185,000 average Australian homes, contributing to NSW’s energy security and supporting Australia’s transition to clean energy.
It forms part of the growing number of solar assets completed or under construction by PCL Constructors Pacific Rim Pty Ltd in Australia, including the Gunnedah and West Wyalong solar projects in NSW and Woolooga in Queensland - all of which Maddocks has also advised PCL.
ACEN Australia’s parent company has committed AUD $800m to the construction of the Stubbo Solar Project, with the main works expected to commence early this year.
The Maddocks team was led by Construction Partner, Sefton Warner, with support from Senior Associate, Madeleine Lynch.
Commenting on Maddocks’ successful appointment, Sefton Warner said: “PCL is a world-class sustainable contractor, and we are pleased to be advising on this important and exciting project. Maddocks’ appointment cements our position as a leading advisor on renewable energy projects in Australia and is an example of our ongoing commitment to support clients in successfully managing climate risk.”
