Maddocks expands ESP with key new arrival

Leading law firm Maddocks has announced the appointment of special counsel, Karli Evans to join its national Employment, Safety and People (ES&P) practice.

Joining Maddocks from a major international law firm, Karli brings more than 15 years’ experience in employment law. Karli’s experience includes acting for some of Australia’s largest corporates, including Qantas, Jetstar, Telstra and BHP, as well as a number of government departments and agencies, including the Fair Work Ombudsman and Fair Work Building and Construction.

Karli’s experience spans the full spectrum of employment law, including industrial relations and enterprise bargaining, general employment, executive agreements, contracting and outsourcing, restructuring and redundancies, HR policies and investigations, confidentiality and restraint of trade, privacy, whistleblowing, equal opportunity, occupational health and safety and workers’ compensation.

Maddocks’ ES&P Partner Ross Jackson offers, ‘Our commitment to continue building and developing our private sector practice will be significantly enhanced with the inclusion of Karli in the team. Karli’s expertise and extensive experience will enable us to further strengthen our reputation in the corporate sector – incorporating her work with some significant government departments and agencies, Karli’s practice melds well with our areas of focus’.

Looking forward to the new challenge, Karli explains, ‘I was drawn to Maddocks by the quality of the ES&P team and their service offering, and in particular the partners’ commitment to growth and development’.

‘Maddocks has a strong reputation in this space for providing strategic and practical advice, and the enthusiasm to continue to grow its ES&P practice and their focus on the development of their people is a very attractive proposition – this gives me the opportunity to focus on building a market-leading practice in an exceptional team environment which delivers successful outcomes for employers navigating the highly complex and challenging landscape of labour regulation.’

Karli’s background also includes driving knowledge management, thought leadership and delivering training – matters close to the heart of Maddocks’ ES&P Partner Catherine Dunlop. ‘Karli’s interest in these areas is very closely aligned to those of our team – she will complement and strengthen our current client offering.’
